THE MANE GAME IS A LIL OFF THE TOP

A NEW WORLD order is at play, and it’s all about hair.

This month, the trendsetters at lil’ off the top are bringing hair education to everyday humans through new media in an exclusive series of digital content.

Under the direction of industry renegade and international hair stylist, Jules Tognini, an assortment of ‘How To’ styling clips is being launched to the masses via YouTube.

The dynamic, yet unassuming hair-cutting lad has been running his straightening iron through Brisbane’s hottest heads for almost 7 years, as Salon Director of aka Togninis and Creative Director Togninis Global in Fortitude Valley.

He has also collected the award for 2013 Male Hairdresser of the Year at last year’s Hair Expo and is a finalist again for this year’s Hair Expo on June 7 and 8 in Sydney.

Kicking off this week, in collaboration with talented digital producer Matty Roberts of Projucer and Australian hair brand evo®, Jules is releasing a series of 10 eclectic hair styling clips to subscribers of his lil off the top channel.

Together, the team is pushing the boundaries on online video content to teach everyday humans mane styling techniques in a language they understand and respect.

Jules said the ‘How To’ videos were inspired by his desire to create an online hair community that was relevant, real and entertaining – a place where everyday people could connect.

“lil’ off the top is a movement towards simple, everyday culture, with an educational tilt into new media,” said Jules.

“The clips are raw and edgy, talking through basic styling tricks in a way that’s casual, not complicated or boring,” he said.

“We are encouraging everyday guys and gals to be inspired by a look and ethos that represents all things self.”

Jules, who is also evo® international brand ambassador, is fast-becoming a voice on contemporary hairstyling trends globally.

“When evo® approached me a couple of years ago, they were looking for a young dude who wasn’t your typical mould to represent them,” said Jules.

“As I started playing around with their products I thought, ‘wow, these are ridiculously good’, if I could make a product company it would be exactly like evo®. I am evo®,” he said.

On May 22, lil’ off the top invited VIP guests and media to celebrate the ‘How To’ video series for a launch event, with a collection of their favourite local Brisbane brands.

Event sponsors included Ellaspede Motorcycles, Green Beacon Brewing, Local Craft Spirits and Happy Little Dumplings.
